Tide to Time

Mapping tidal data to moments that matter. One of a kind.
Real Data. Custom coded. Drawn in ink.

Tidal data, transformed into art.

Tide to Time is a series of bespoke, algorithmically generated tidal portraits.
Each piece is a bespoke visualisation of tidal data from a specific time and location that holds personal significance to you — a special encounter, an adventure, a new arrival.
I source the tidal information and I write the code, analyse the data, and plot each drawing by machine in ink. The result is a one-of-a-kind, physical artefact — never duplicated, never printed.

How it Works

  1. Choose your Moment.
    Share a meaningful date/s and location/s, journey, anniversary, birth-date

  2. Data Collection
I retrieve and analyse the historical tidal data and patterns relevant to your chosen moment.

  3. Custom Code Creation
I developing unique generative code tailored to your data, a digital render will be shared with you to confirm colours, orientation and details

  4. Artistic Rendering
I programme a precision drawing machine to bring the data to life in ink on paper

  5. Delivery of Artwork
Receive your signed, framed, one-of-a-kind tidal portrait.

About the Artist

Kerrie O’Leary is an Irish artist and producer based between Dublin and London. With a background in Management Science and Information Systems (Trinity College Dublin) and an MFA in Computational Art (Goldsmiths, University of London), her practice combines data analysis, generative code, and machine-led drawing to translate environmental systems into tangible, physical artworks.

Her work explores the hidden patterns that shape our world — from tides to time — transforming raw, often overlooked data into poetic and precise visual forms.

Tide to Time is her ongoing series of commissioned artworks, created using historical ocean and tidal data, plotted in ink with custom-built algorithms and a precision drawing machine.
